Job Overview

Position Summary

Quality Assurance Specialists are responsible for executing inspection protocols to guarantee that the quality of products aligns with the predetermined standards.

Shift Details: 3rd Shift, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM, Sunday - Thursday

Compensation: Entry-level starting pay of $17.50 per hour plus an additional $2.10 shift differential per hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform bag inspections for each production machine, assessing bag dimensions, seal integrity, hot melt application, and overall appearance.
  • Authorize the operation of each production machine at the start of the shift and after every setup, utilizing a provided checklist.
  • Manage products and materials that do not meet quality criteria by placing them on QA Hold, generating necessary documentation, and overseeing their transfer to the quarantine area.
  • Input all inspection data into the computer system accurately.
  • Conduct incoming inspections for raw materials and finished products, including sampling for testing, executing required tests, recording results, and releasing materials.
  • Collect product/material samples and ensure proper filing and storage in accordance with established procedures.
  • Carry out audits of finished goods to confirm adherence to quality standards.
  • Assist in investigating customer feedback and complaints.
  • Provide necessary labels to production associates as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; some college education is preferred.

Communication Skills:

  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English with strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to read and interpret general quality procedures and testing methods.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Capable of performing basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals with a calculator.
  • Able to read a ruler accurately.

Reasoning Skills:

  • Demonstrates excellent attention to detail, quality, safety, problem-solving, and follow-up abilities.
  • Able to interpret various instructions presented in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in entering inspection data into database software.
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications is required.

Physical Requirements:

While executing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The employee frequently stands, walks, sits, uses hands for manipulation, and reaches with arms. Occasionally, the employee may need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Employees must be prepared to work overtime with little notice, as the Quality department is small and lacks additional personnel to cover absences.
