Key Responsibilities
  • Medical Assistant I:
    • Assist with preparing patients for examination and obtain patient medical history by accurately taking vital signs and documenting the results.
    • Review charts and prepare them for the following day as indicated.
    • Stock patient care areas with necessary supplies.
    • Perform clinical skills as guided by competency validation.
    • Coordinate with other clinics to ensure quality patient experience.
  • Medical Assistant II:
    • Assist with preparing patients for examination and obtain patient medical history by accurately taking vital signs and documenting the results.
    • Perform clinical skills as guided by competency validation.
    • Implement plan for each clinic ahead of time to identify and anticipate potential clinic flow problems.
    • Monitor master schedule and resolve unexpected patient flow issues.
    • Coordinate telephone communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
    • Responsible for administrative functions to support clinic operations.
    • Provide and document patient education using effective teaching skills.
    • Precept and orient new team members to their function in the clinic.
    • Perform routine blood drawing procedures, including venipuncture techniques.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma/GED and successful graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or Emergency Medical Technician program.
  • Special Training, Certification, or Licensure: CPR/BLS required.
  • Work Experience:
    • Medical Assistant I: None
    • Medical Assistant II: Minimum of six (6) months experience as a Medical Assistant at National Jewish Health or one (1) year recent experience from a healthcare organization or medical office as a Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician.
