Position Overview:
JELD-WEN is on the lookout for an experienced Indirect Tax Manager to enhance our dynamic team.

Role Responsibilities:
This remote position involves leading the indirect tax operations, ensuring adherence to regulations, and formulating effective tax strategies.

As the Indirect Tax Manager, you will:
  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership for the indirect tax operations.
  • Manage audit processes, address controversies, and handle inquiries related to indirect tax, including liaising with local tax authorities and external consultants.
  • Ensure robust internal controls are established for indirect tax accounting.
  • Develop and implement an indirect tax strategy that includes the transformation and automation of sales, use, and property tax functions.
  • Identify and apply indirect tax-related business incentives.
  • Guarantee compliance with state, federal, and international indirect tax filings and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with the IT/IS department on technical issues related to indirect tax applications.
  • Oversee third-party return preparer services and conduct monthly reconciliations.
  • Monitor changes in state and local tax legislation and assess their potential impact on the company’s operations and tax provisions.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to effectively plan, quantify, and report tax implications of business activities and accounting changes.
  • Respond adeptly to inquiries regarding product taxability.
  • Manage the maintenance of exemption certificates for vendors and customers.
  • Assist the tax department with state and local income tax issues and other projects as required.

Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA designation preferred).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in indirect tax, ideally with a Big 4 firm.
  • In-depth technical expertise in North American indirect taxes.
  • The ability to collaborate with key business stakeholders to effectively resolve complex indirect tax issues with a results-oriented and proactive approach.
  • A strong inclination towards independent analysis, collaborative problem-solving, and effective resolution.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and tax research software (e.g., CCH, BNA, Bloomberg).
