Key Responsibilities:
As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to significantly impact the lives of Oregon's most vulnerable children and families. As a Family Engagement Specialist, your duties will include:
- Information Gathering and Documentation: Collect and document information from caseworkers, children, parents, relatives, case providers, schools, and other relevant sources to plan family engagement activities.
- Reviewing Family Engagement Agreements: Collaborate with parents and caregivers to review family engagement agreements and guidelines, recommending community resources as necessary.
- Supervising Family Engagement: Oversee family engagement activities in various settings, documenting relevant information to ensure the safety and well-being of children during these interactions.
- Transporting Children: Assist in transporting children to family engagement activities and other essential appointments.
- Collaboration with Caseworkers: Work closely with caseworkers to evaluate the specifics of family engagement supervision, recommend necessary services for case planning, and relay important information regarding children and their families or caregivers.
Qualifications:
- One year of experience supporting professionals in specialized social programs such as family services, child services, senior services, mental or developmental disability services, substance abuse programs, juvenile corrections programs, or occupational skills programs, or
- Possession of a current certification in child development, early childhood education, addiction counseling preparation, or juvenile corrections, or
- 45 quarter hours, or 30 semester hours of college coursework in sociology, psychology, early childhood education, criminal justice, human services, juvenile corrections, or occupational skills training, or
- An associate degree in a field not closely related to social work/human services and six months of human services-related experience (e.g., providing assistance to individuals and groups facing challenges such as economic disadvantage, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, mental or physical disabilities, juvenile prevention, health, cultural competencies, and/or inadequate housing).

- Detail-oriented work, particularly in creating or reviewing documents.
- Defusing emotionally charged situations, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution techniques.
- Working effectively both as part of a team and independently while managing time efficiently.
- Writing clearly and concisely (in plain language) with minimal spelling or grammar errors.
- Collaborating and engaging with individuals from diverse educational, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds.
