Senior Accounting Professional

We are seeking a skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at West Health in San Diego. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to take on a leadership role and contribute to the organization's mission of lowering the cost of healthcare.
Job Description:The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including general ledger management, financial reporting, investment accounting, grant accounting, and annual tax return preparation. Additionally, they will assist in cash flow budgeting, financial audits, and maintenance of internal control policies and procedures.
This position reports directly to the Director of Accounting and requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a high level of accuracy. The ideal candidate will have at least 5-7 years of related accounting experience, preferably with nonprofit organizations.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare timely quarterly and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements, as well as general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and record journal entries, including those for investments, payroll, fixed assets, accruals, prepaid expenses, and accounts receivables.
- Verify and record accounts payable invoices with accuracy.
- Prepare and reconcile grants, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Maintain files for investment documents and prepare wire transfer forms and letters of authorization.
- Assist with research on accounting issues for compliance with GAAP.
- Self-motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexible and able to prioritize unexpected requests.
- Ability to think critically, research, and seek resolutions.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Able to meet tight deadlines.
- Possess high ethical standards and exercise discretion.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a small team-oriented environment.
- At least 5-7 years of related accounting experience, preferably with nonprofit organizations.
- Experience with accounting for alternative/private equity investments.
- An estimated salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
- Up to 10% Annual Performance Bonus.
