Job Summary

Sonoma Ecology Center is seeking a highly skilled Events and Communications Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in promoting our organization's mission, vision, and values through effective marketing and communications strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan to promote Sonoma Ecology Center's events, programs, and services.
  • Manage and maintain our suite of websites, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is available to the public.
  • Collaborate with staff and partners to ensure strategic communications alignment and effective messaging.
  • Write and edit content for various channels, including social media, email newsletters, and press releases.
  • Design and implement a social media strategy to engage with our audience and promote our brand.
  • Manage media relations, including developing press contacts, pitching stories, and coordinating interviews.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and community members.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in marketing and communications.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in marketing and communications, preferably in a non-profit setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using WordPress and other marketing and communications tools.
