As a Pathologist Assistant, you will work under the supervision of Pathologists to perform various duties such as external examination, evisceration, dissection, tissue selection, and tissue banking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform External Examination and Evisceration: Conduct thorough external examinations of specimens and perform evisceration procedures as required.
  • Dissection and Tissue Selection: Dissect and select tissues for further examination and analysis.
  • Tissue Banking and Quality Assurance: Ensure the proper handling, storage, and disposal of tissues, and participate in quality assurance activities to maintain high standards of care.
  • Obtain Clinical Information: Gather and document clinical information related to specimens and patients.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to new employees and students, and participate in the development and review of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Support Clinical Research and Quality Improvement: Assist in the development and implementation of clinical research projects and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in medical technology or a related science.
  • Certification: Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Pathologist Assistant is required.
