Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient needs and develop effective treatment plans in collaboration with healthcare teams.
  • Operate and maintain specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care settings, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Administer medication treatments and therapies as prescribed by physicians, prioritizing patient well-being and safety.
  • Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure optimal functionality and patient care.
  • Educate patients and their families on respiratory therapy techniques, disease management, and self-care strategies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care, addressing clinical problems and promoting a culture of safety.
  • Under physician direction, adapt to policies and procedures, perform tasks, and maintain performance standards and organizational behaviors.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, providing clear, concise, and timely information.
  • Promote a culture of safety by recognizing and applying proper safety measures to prevent patient harm, reporting incidents and near misses in a timely manner.
  • Teach, educate, and precept new team members, orientees, and students, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and professional development.
Requirements
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 12 months OR active Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential issued by the NBRC if credential received prior to January 1, 2019.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program, with a minimum of an associate degree.
