Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to fill the role of Shift Coordinator. This position will provide leadership and clinical expertise on their respective shift and department, ensuring that staffing to census and acuity is appropriate both clinically and financially.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the staffing office to adjust staff numbers for census changes during the shift.
  • Communicate with the oncoming Charge Nurse about census, staffing, pending admissions and discharges, and any problems they need to be aware of.
  • Support unit management team in managing department productivity/staffing and timekeeping, and coordinating unit activities.
  • Perform evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Participate in hospital committees as unit representative as needed.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
  • A current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice is required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained with prior approval within 60 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Certification as appropriate for unit or service is preferred.
Work Environment

This position requires regular attendance to perform work on-site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts. Ability to work nights and/or weekends is required for identified positions.

Physical Requirements

This position requires ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
