Job Summary

The Central Texas VA Health Care System is seeking a highly skilled Podiatrist to serve as the Urology Section Chief. This is a unique opportunity to lead a team of healthcare professionals and provide exceptional care to our nation's veterans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and clinical leadership to the Urology Section
  • Perform surgical procedures in the operating room and specialty clinical services
  • Review and triage outpatient and inpatient consultations within the required timeframe
  • Participate in ward/ICU rounds and other relevant activities for initial and follow-up patient care
  • Follow each patient through the full continuum of care process, including admissions, discharges, and informed consents
  • Responsible for educating patients and family members
  • Provide a monthly call schedule to the surgical administrative section and participate in on-call duties
  • Adhere to policies and procedures regarding medical documentation and compliance standards
  • Train and supervise medical students and residents in all aspects of their surgery rotations
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the most effective delivery of care
Requirements
  • Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from an accredited institution
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice podiatry medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
  • Completion of residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs
  • Board certification in Urology or eligibility for board certification
  • Ability to provide medical opinions in medical specialties and operative surgeon experience
  • 3-5 years of medical facility leadership experience
