Job SummaryWe're seeking a Medical Support Specialist to join our team at our West Des Moines, IA location. As a Medical Support Specialist, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our donors and employees. You'll work closely with our medical team to determine donor eligibility, manage donor reactions, and maintain a clean and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility accurately and in a timely manner
- Manage donor reactions and refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs as needed
- Conduct pre-placement evaluations of new hires and maintain employee medical records
- Assist with the EHS program and support investigations associated with pandemic threats
- Perform finger sticks, test samples, and record other donor measures
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where duties will be assigned: Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse (LPN or LVN)
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification required
- Fulfillment of state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
- Minimum of two years in a clinical or hospital setting preferred
