About the Role

As a Medical Support Specialist at BioLife Plasma Services, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of plasma donations. Your primary responsibility will be to determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, and review laboratory test results. You will work closely with the Center Manager and Center Physician to ensure that all medical and operational procedures are followed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine donor eligibility through proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion
  • Conduct medical history interviews and physical examinations to assess donor suitability
  • Review Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) results and other laboratory test results to ensure donor safety
  • Evaluate donor reactions and follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for medical emergencies
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when in need of guidance on medical or technical issues
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Currently licensed or certified as an EMT-Paramedic in the state where responsibilities will be assigned
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting
