Medical Support Specialist

As a Medical Support Specialist at BioLife Plasma Services, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of plasma donations. Your primary responsibility will be to determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, and review laboratory test results. You will work closely with the Center Manager and Center Physician to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility through proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion.
- Conduct medical history interviews and physical examinations to assess donor suitability.
- Review Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) results and make informed decisions regarding donor eligibility.
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for medical emergencies.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when necessary for guidance on medical or technical issues.
- Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Current licensure or certification as an EMT-Paramedic in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
