Senior Director of Development for Children's Health

The Senior Director of Development will be responsible for managing and leading the Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital fundraising program for MUSC Children's Health. This position provides strategic leadership in the development of philanthropic goals, strategies, and priorities for SJCH. The successful candidate will lead, mentor, and manage a team of development professionals to achieve annual fundraising goals.
Key Responsibilities- Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that meets the goals of the institution. This includes identifying fundraising priorities, creating corresponding funding opportunities, and ensuring resources are positioned for best results in fundraising and planning activities.
- Team Management: Manage a team of development professionals, including hiring, orientation, and training; goal setting; and monitoring individual and team progress toward goals. Provide leadership and guidance to maximize staff productivity and inspire, develop, and empower staff to grow as individual performers and future leaders.
- Fundraising: Develop and manage a portfolio of major and principal prospects who have a high propensity to give. Achieve annual activity and outcome goals, including number of personal visits, number of solicitations, dollars asked, and dollars raised. Meet or exceed an annual individual fundraising goal of $4,000,000-$6,000,000.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years progressively responsible development experience, including a proven track-record of personal fundraising results, preferably in a higher education or health system setting.
