Job Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the college dining services. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures and be able to prepare and serve a variety of menus with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the operation of the college dining services, including food preparation and customer service functions.
  • Prepare main entrees, side dishes, and desserts for students and staff.
  • Assist in preparing, delivering, and serving caterings for special events.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitized kitchen and dining area.
  • Monitor college student workers, including recording hours worked.
  • Must have and keep current Serve Safe Certification, or obtain within 60 days of employment.
  • Perform necessary cleaning on all equipment and appliances.
  • Assist in washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans.
  • Maintain a friendly, positive, and professional relationship with all patrons.
  • Be responsible for cash register operations.
  • Maintain organization, rotation, and cleanliness of all areas of the kitchen, store rooms, coolers, freezers, service, and dining area.
  • Store all food, paper supplies, and chemicals according to all applicable health laws.
  • Monitor food appearance, quality, and portion control.
  • Maintain accurate records required by the college and Food Service Department.
  • Receive and validate all food deliveries from vendors.
  • Must be willing to help with caterings.
  • Responsible for opening and closing procedures.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.
  • The assigned work location may change as needed.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements:
  • Must be clean, dependable, and customer service oriented.
  • Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures.
  • Must be capable of preparing and serving a variety of menus with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
  • Perform necessary cleaning on all equipment and appliances.
  • Monitor college student workers, including recording hours worked.
  • Must have and keep current Serve Safe Certification, or obtain within 60 days of employment.
