Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct experimental research in quantum optics, utilizing your expertise in experimental or applied physics, optics, or other closely related fields.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to complex research problems, working closely with our team of experts.
  • Collaborate with our team to design, build, and operate custom optical characterization experiments and equipment.
  • Contribute to the development of new technologies and techniques in quantum sensing and quantum clocks.
  • Participate in the development of research proposals and reports, ensuring timely and accurate submission.
  • Travel up to 10% per year to support research collaborations and meetings.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in experimental or applied physics, optics, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in experimental or applied physics, optics, or other closely related fields.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain a secret level security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in quantum sensors and quantum clocks.
  • Experience with atom interferometry.
  • Demonstrated skills in creative or independent problem-solving.
  • Experience with atomic cooling and trapping techniques.
  • Experience with inertial sensing.
  • Experience with entanglement, spin squeezing, or active superradiant emission.
  • Experience with readout based on quantum nondemolition measurement.
  • Experience with interrogation of nonclassical optical fields.
  • Experience building custom optical characterization experiments and/or equipment.
  • Familiarity with common computer languages, such as Matlab, Comsol, Python, etc.
