POSITION OUTLINE

This role emphasizes the delivery of exceptional patient care through the execution of x-ray procedures in alignment with established protocols, aiding orthopedic specialists in diagnosing and tracking recovery progress.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday and Thursday 8:00am - 4:30pm; Wednesday and Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

Compensation is based on experience and qualifications

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Safely transports and positions patients, ensuring minimal discomfort while capturing requested x-ray images.
  2. Exhibits proficiency in a film-less environment.
  3. Conducts quality assurance checks on digital images to guarantee high diagnostic quality and accurate patient identification.
  4. Operates the C-arm during surgical procedures under sterile conditions, assisting with fluoroscopy-guided joint injections and ensuring proper setup of the procedure room.
  5. Ensures safety by protecting patients, self, and colleagues from radiation exposure.
  6. Records all completed radiological procedures in the electronic patient record system.
  7. Maintains effective communication with patients, families, healthcare providers, and staff.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Ensures a clean and organized workspace.
  • Manages the ordering of necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Provides assistance in various areas as required.
  • Participates in assigned meetings and engages in educational opportunities to enhance skills.
  • Demonstrates professionalism consistently.
  • Stays informed on current patient care issues by attending department and team meetings.
  • Exhibits cooperative behavior and fosters a positive team environment.
  • Performs additional tasks to support the overall efficiency of the clinic.
  • Proactively identifies and addresses potential patient safety concerns.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in radiography from an accredited institution.
  • AART Certification and a valid Maine State RT license are mandatory.
  • Current BLS certification is required.
  • Previous experience as a radiologic technologist, particularly in orthopedics, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with healthcare practices and medical office procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with patients and staff.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrates compassion and care in patient interactions.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
