Job Title: Police Apprentice

Job Summary:

This part-time position is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about serving their community and want to gain hands-on experience in law enforcement. As a Police Apprentice, you will work directly with experienced officers and gain valuable skills and knowledge in areas such as security, communication, and community engagement.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct security checks of assigned areas, including parks, trails, and public facilities
  • Assist in maintaining radio communications with the Hickory Police Department Communications Center
  • File reports and maintain accurate records
  • Interact with the public, providing directions and answering inquiries
  • Work collaboratively with other employees to achieve departmental goals
Requirements:
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a valid North Carolina Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days
  • Meet the criteria for and be accepted into the Apprenticeship NC program through the North Carolina Community Colleges System
  • Pass a thorough background investigation
  • Be able to work part-time duty hours that may vary as scheduled
