Job Summary

Zachry Construction is seeking a skilled Pipe Layer - Assembler to join our team. As a key member of our pipe crew, you will be responsible for assembling, connecting, and constructing pipe systems for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble and connect pipe systems for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.
  • Prepare and dig trenches for pipes, ensuring the ground is properly prepared and trenches are dug out to the correct specifications.
  • Align pipes and seal joints together with cement or glue, ensuring a secure and watertight connection.
  • Work with the pipe crew to set RCP and RCB pipe for pipe extensions and full pipe crossings.
  • Configure pipe routes and ensure pipes are properly spaced and aligned.
  • Dig trenches with trenching tools and insert pipes into trenches.
  • Inspect and test pipe connections to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Lay pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.
  • Grade trenches or culverts to ensure proper drainage and water flow.
  • Seal joints and ensure pipes are properly fitted and aligned.
  • Cover pipes with dirt or other material to protect them from damage.
  • Drill holes into pipes for auxiliary lines.
  • Work with concrete pipes and ensure they are properly installed and connected.
Requirements
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in utility roadway construction.
  • Physical ability to perform assigned tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of operating hand and power tools of various types.
  • Knowledge of working with concrete pipes and ensuring they are properly installed and connected.
  • Previous experience setting up to 42 RCP and working with safety end treatments.
  • Flexibility to work days and nights as needed.
