Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Northlake Behavioral Health System is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our nursing department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented LPN to work in our psychiatric care unit. In this role, you will be responsible for administering medications, monitoring patient vital signs, and providing direct patient care under the supervision of our registered nurses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications as ordered by the medical staff, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Monitor patient vital signs, report any changes or concerns to the RN, and assist with medical care and procedures as needed.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, providing input on patient response to medication and other observations.
  • Assist with treatment planning, initiating plans of care for patients and updating interventions as needed.
  • Obtain patient consent for medication administration and educate patients on their medications.
  • Perform body audits on patients, documenting results and ensuring accurate records.
  • Check, clean, and document emergency carts, controlled drugs, sharps, glucometer logs, and refrigerator temperatures.
  • Perform nursing education groups and document on multidisciplinary group notes.
  • Assist with milieu management, relieving MHTs for lunch and break, and completing nursing documents and forms.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • At least one year of experience in psychiatric or behavioral health and/or in the medical field preferred.
  • Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Louisiana.
  • CPR and CPI certifications required within two weeks of hire.
