We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at St. Tammany Health System. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical assistance to physicians and nurse practitioners in a professional manner
- Ensure patient care is delivered in a caring, efficient, and compassionate manner
- Handle patient phone calls and care for patients in the office
- Perform EKGs and CLIA waived tests as appropriate
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Good working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding
- Current BLS certification through an ILCOR-approved course
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) diploma from an accredited school (for LPN role)
- Accredited Medical Assistant Program Certification or equivalent on-the-job training (for Medical Assistant role)
- Physician's office experience
- Experience with EPIC (EMR) and insurance processes in a clinical setting
The ideal candidate will possess good physical health and be able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required, and the ability to work in a moderate noise level environment is essential.
