Job Title: Director of Behavioral Health

Elevance Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Behavioral Health to lead our behavioral health services function in Kansas. This is a hybrid role that requires the successful candidate to be located within 50 miles of our company locations in Topeka, KS, or Olathe, KS, and to be licensed and domiciled in the state of Kansas.

Job Summary:

The Director of Behavioral Health will be responsible for directing a state or regional behavioral health services function, overseeing one line of business and one or more states depending on size and complexity of the contract. This role requires a strong leader who can ensure appropriate utilization and administration of EAP or Behavioral Health services, lead teams of clinicians providing direct care services, and develop and maintain positive relationships with providers, advocates, and state partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure appropriate utilization and administration of EAP or Behavioral Health services.
  • Lead teams of clinicians providing direct care services.
  • Direct assessments, provide appropriate referrals, and perform follow-up to ensure quality and appropriateness of services.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with providers, advocates, and state partners.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional corporate teams designing and implementing new care/case/utilization management programs.
  • Develop and implement process and program redesigns.
  • Lead multiple teams of clinicians promoting quality member outcomes, optimizing member benefits, and promoting effective use of resources.
  • Ensure adherence to all contract, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
  • Develop short- and long-term objectives and monitor processes and procedures to ensure consistency with the enterprise and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with Care Management partners to resolve issues or find solutions.
  • Manage budget and special projects.
  • Hire, train, coach, counsel, and evaluate performance of direct reports.
Requirements:
  • Requires a MS in a mental health field (i.e. social work, counseling) or related field (i.e. nursing) and a minimum of 10 years of clinical experience including case management and leadership experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Current unrestricted license for specific profession (i.e. LCSW, RN) as required.
  • For URAC accredited areas, the following professional competencies apply: Associates in this role are expected to have strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, problem-solving skills, facilitation skills, and analytical skills.
Work Environment:

Elevance Health operates in a Hybrid Workforce Strategy. Unless specified as primarily virtual by the hiring manager, associates are required to work at an Elevance Health location at least once per week, and potentially several times per week. Specific requirements and expectations for time onsite will be discussed as part of the hiring process. Candidates must reside within 50 miles or 1-hour commute each way of a relevant Elevance Health location.
