Medical Assistant

As a Medical Assistant at Geisinger Health System, you will play a vital role in providing front-line support to our clinics and delivering direct patient care activities. You will coordinate and perform front-line office activities in an effective and efficient manner, ensuring seamless patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide patient care as directed by licensed nurses, within the medical assistant scope of practice, to meet multidisciplinary care plans.
- Assist providers in setting up for minor procedures, gathering supplies, and applying aseptic dressings.
- Obtain and accurately document patient information using the rooming tool within the electronic medical record.
- Reinforce patient instructions to enhance understanding and adherence to treatment plans.
- Collect and prepare lab specimens, and complete associated paperwork and documentation.
- Report patient concerns and questions to the care team and follow through as directed.
- Inventory and order supplies based on established inventory levels, ensuring adequate stock of equipment and supplies.
- Clean equipment, inspect its condition, and perform high-level disinfection or sterilization as per policy and procedure.
- Perform duties of a Patient Access Representative, including checking patients in for appointments and verifying demographics.
- Assure all check-in procedures are completed, monitor patient wait times, and communicate changes to patients as necessary.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Minimum 1 year of related work experience
- Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months
