Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant at Waccamaw Dermatology, LLC is responsible for providing exceptional support to our medical team in delivering high-quality dermatology care to our patients. This role involves a variety of tasks, including greeting and interacting with patients, collecting patient intake information, and assisting with medical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist during dermatological procedures and surgeries, including setting up and sterilizing instruments and completing documentation logs.
  • Assist the Provider with minor surgeries, such as skin cancer removals and cyst excisions.
  • Perform intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, as well as numbing injections.
  • Maintain medical terminology knowledge, especially as it pertains to dermatology.
  • Respond to patient messages, electronic faxes, and phone call inquiries in a professional manner.
  • Greets patients, records medical histories, and takes vital signs.
  • Helps room patients and prepares them for examinations and procedures.
  • Communicates aftercare follow-up instructions to patients.
  • Performs in-room scribing with the medical provider throughout the appointment and ensures accuracy in all charting activities.
  • Assists with ordering and inventory of medical supplies.

Requirements:

  • Medical Assistant experience or equivalent in a high-volume medical setting.
  • Completion of a technical/vocational training school program with CMA, AAMA, RMA, or CCMA Medical Assistant certification.
  • Previous experience scribing in the room for the Provider.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, or BLS certificate.
  • Ability to speak other languages a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to move from one location to another within and outside of the building.
  • Ability to push, pull, and reach; bend; stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work 8-10+ hour shifts and be available for overtime when necessary.
  • Must be able to speak and write English fluently.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

On-Site Presence Required:

Must have reliable transportation and be available to work on-site as assigned.
