The OpportunityWe're seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist (Lab Services Specialist) to join our team. As a key member of our patient care team, you'll provide exceptional experiences for our patients by collecting and processing specimens with the highest quality standards. You'll work closely with our diverse team of providers and administrative assistants to ensure seamless care delivery.
As a Phlebotomist, you'll have the opportunity to utilize your clinical skills and knowledge to make a meaningful impact on our patients' lives. You'll be responsible for providing best-in-class venipuncture services, performing and assisting with extended scope duties, and maintaining high standards of in-office care.
Responsibilities- Provide exceptional venipuncture services to patients of all ages
- Perform and assist with extended scope duties, including non-blood specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs
- Maintain high standards of in-office care through proper specimen labeling, handling, and processing, inventory upkeep, and tool sterilization
- Assist with clerical duties, such as answering patient messages, following up on lab cases, and assisting providers and virtual medical teams with tasks like biometric screening forms, medical record review, billing inquiries, and DOH reporting
- Master our technology suite, including Slack, G-suite, Zoom, and our Electronic Medical Record System, to interact with team members and complete daily work
- Active Medical Assistant certification from NHA, AAMA, NCCT, or the AMT
- Graduated from an accredited postsecondary Medical Assistant program or completion of relevant Medical Assistant training by any branch of the armed forces
- At least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of a training/externship environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency in computer technology, including typing, navigating the internet, and using multiple software systems simultaneously
- Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams, with a plus for remote teams
- A proven ability to display confidence and instill trust during the collection process while delivering individualized, human-centered, customer-focused care
- A proven track record of persisting through change, consistently stepping up to take action on challenges, and learning quickly and effectively when faced with new situations or tasks
- Experience with extended scope care, including non-blood specimen collection and processing, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs, is preferred
