Job Title: Elementary School Principal

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Elementary School Principal to join our team at Columbus City Schools.

Job Summary:

The Elementary School Principal will provide strategic direction and oversee the execution of all plans and activities of the district's curriculum, ensuring student learning experiences are consistent with the mission statement and instructional goals of the district.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Directs the day-to-day activities of building staff, including hiring, training, counseling, and evaluating staff performance.
  • Supervises the delivery of academic instruction, ensuring learning experiences are consistent with the mission statement and instructional goals of the building and district.
  • Provides assistance and guidance to staff engaged in student instruction, promotes improvement of curriculum and instruction within the building, and monitors student achievement and progress toward instructional goals and objectives.
  • Leads the development and execution of the building's ASIP school improvement plan, oversees the development of the master schedule and class scheduling of students, and prepares and administers building budget(s).
  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts staff development activities, ensures safe conditions and compliance with Federal, state, and local health and safety standards, and creates and promotes a positive and cooperative atmosphere that encourages and motivates students and staff.
  • Monitors building compliance with related regulatory requirements and district standards, initiates corrective action as necessary, and oversees the maintenance of accurate personnel, student, and fiscal records.
  • Establishes and maintains communication with central office administrators, building staff, students, parents, and others, articulates and promotes the vision and mission of the building, and promotes positive school-community relations.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Seven (7) or more years of related teaching and administrative experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Minimum (1) year of school-based administrator experience (principal or assistant principal only).
  • Valid Ohio Department of Education Administrator certificate or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards and district policies related to assigned functions.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively and work productively with all levels of district staff, students, parents, and the general public.
