This leadership position is critical for advancing the organization's development and fundraising initiatives. The selected candidate will be responsible for achieving an ambitious target of securing $2 million in new donations annually.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fundraising and organizational development, with significant management experience in a non-profit or research setting. A passion for philanthropy, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to foster complex relationships are essential attributes for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Fund Development:

  • Formulate a comprehensive strategy for fundraising that aligns with the institution's vision and financial objectives.
  • Establish annual revenue targets and develop plans to diversify and enhance the organizational budget.
  • Promote a culture of philanthropy within the organization and serve as a role model for effective donor engagement.
  • Collaborate with senior management to craft compelling messages tailored for donor audiences.
  • Mentor and support the Executive Director, Board, and staff in cultivating donor relationships.
  • Participate as a key member of the executive management team.

Major Gifts Program Implementation:

  • Identify, nurture, solicit, and manage relationships with major gift prospects and donors.
  • Create tailored engagement strategies for high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and foundations.

Donor Relations and Stewardship:

  • Work with the Executive Director and relevant teams to enhance relationships with current donors, aiming to increase gift size and retention.
  • Ensure timely acknowledgment and recognition of major gifts.

Campaign Management:

  • Oversee preparations for upcoming capital and endowment campaigns.
  • Track campaign progress and ensure financial goals are met.

Board Relations:

  • Prepare comprehensive development reports for the Executive Director ahead of board meetings.
  • Support and encourage the Board's fundraising initiatives.

Financial Oversight:

  • Develop and manage the budget for the development department.
  • Monitor fundraising expenditures to ensure efficient operations.
  • Collaborate with the CFO to establish income goals aligned with the Center's financial needs.

Marketing and Communication:

  • Work with the marketing team to produce effective fundraising materials and donor communications.
  • Promote the organization's mission through various channels.

Data Management:

  • Utilize donor management systems to monitor and analyze fundraising activities.
  • Coordinate development activities and track progress against the annual work plan.
Qualifications

Fundraising Expertise:

  • Proven experience in developing and executing successful fundraising programs.
  • Demonstrated success in securing major gifts and foundation grants.

Leadership Skills:

  • Strong leadership abilities with a track record of managing diverse teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
