Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and Participate in Park Maintenance: Supervise and participate in the work of a park maintenance crew, performing difficult skilled and responsible technical work.
  • Plan and Schedule Work: Plan and schedule work for the park maintenance crew, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Train and Develop Crew Members: Train and develop crew members in the safe operation of tools and equipment, as well as in turf management and maintenance techniques.
  • Inspect and Maintain Park Facilities: Inspect and maintain park facilities, including outdoor courts, athletic fields, and other park amenities.
  • Coordinate Maintenance and Repair: Coordinate maintenance and repair of park facilities, including scheduling and supervising work crews.
  • Prepare Reports and Budgets: Prepare reports and budgets for park maintenance and repair, as well as for turf management and maintenance programs.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent, and at least two years of experience in park maintenance or a related field.
  • Knowledge and Skills: A strong background in turf management, maintenance, and repair, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Certifications and Licenses: A valid driver's license, and a North Carolina Pesticide License or the ability to obtain within one year of hire date.

Working Conditions:

The Parks Maintenance Crew Supervisor will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions. The successful candidate will be able to lift 50 pounds or more with assistance, and will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
