Parks Maintenance Crew Supervisor Job Description

Job Summary:

The Parks Maintenance Crew Supervisor is responsible for supervising and participating in the work of a park maintenance crew, performing difficult skilled and responsible technical work. The successful candidate will have a strong background in turf management, landscaping, and maintenance, with excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and Participate in Park Maintenance: Supervise and participate in the work of a park maintenance crew, performing difficult skilled and responsible technical work.
  • Plan and Schedule Work: Plan and schedule work for the park maintenance crew, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Train and Develop Staff: Train and develop staff members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Inspect and Maintain Park Facilities: Inspect and maintain park facilities, including playgrounds, sports fields, and other recreational areas.
  • Coordinate Maintenance and Repair Work: Coordinate maintenance and repair work with other departments and external contractors.
  • Prepare Reports and Budgets: Prepare reports and budgets for park maintenance activities, including cost estimates and resource allocation.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of experience in park maintenance or a related field.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of turf management, landscaping, and maintenance practices, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Certifications and Licenses: Possession of a valid driver's license and a North Carolina Pesticide License or the ability to obtain within one year of hire date.

Working Conditions:

The Parks Maintenance Crew Supervisor will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions. The successful candidate will be able to lift 50 pounds or more with assistance and will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
