Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse in our Emergency Department, you will provide direct patient care to individuals who require complex assessments and interventions. You will work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to prioritize and optimize patient flow, expediting those who require immediate care.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health and situation, utilizing age and culturally sensitive practices to prioritize and optimize patient flow.
  • Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues, and identify expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation.
  • Implement, coordinate, and educate to promote health and a safe practice environment, evaluating progress toward attainment of outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively in a variety of formats in all areas of practice, demonstrating leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession.
  • Attain knowledge and competence that reflect current nursing practice, applying the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to Emergency Nursing practice.
Education and Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
  • One year of registered nurse experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
Required Professional Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Academy Pediatrics (AAP).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Essentials - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
