Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Safety Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive safety strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Provide Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary strategic direction and leadership to the safety department, ensuring continuous improvement in safety performance.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations, including DOT, OSHA, and FMCSA.
  • Manage Safety Programs: Design, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead Safety Team: Lead, mentor, and develop the safety team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, industry groups, and community organizations.
Requirements
  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Transportation Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in safety management within the transportation or logistics industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree or Master's degree. 15 years of experience in a safety senior leadership role, within the transportation industry. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification.

  • Senior Leadership: Proven track record of developing and implementing successful safety programs.
  • Safety Strategy: Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Safety Compliance: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Decision making: Ability to develop and implement effective safety programs, strategies, and initiatives.
Work Environment

This position is based at the Stevens Transport headquarters in Dallas, TX. Regular travel to various company locations, industry conferences, and regulatory meetings is required.
