Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Aerial Fiber Installation Technician to contribute to our operations at Southern Sky L.L.C.

Key Duties:

  • Execute the installation, splicing, termination, and testing of fiber optic cables across diverse environments, including aerial, underground, and indoor locations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to strategize and implement network expansion initiatives.
  • Utilize specialized tools and equipment proficiently and safely, such as fusion splicers, OTDRs, and power meters.
  • Comply with industry standards, regulations, and company policies to uphold the integrity and reliability of network infrastructure.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving service interruptions, and effectively communicating with clients during installations and repairs.
  • Accurately document work activities, including network configurations, splicing records, and service tickets.
  • Engage in training programs and remain informed about emerging technologies and best practices in fiber optics and telecommunications.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in telecommunications, fiber optics, or related fields is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in fiber optic cable installation, splicing, and troubleshooting is highly preferred.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment related to fiber optic and telecommunications installations.
  • Strong knowledge of fiber optic cable types, connectors, and termination methods.
  • Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the capability to interact professionally with team members and clients.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Analytical Skills: Robust problem-solving skills to efficiently diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Physical Endurance: Capability to work in physically demanding settings, climb poles or ladders, and lift heavy equipment.
  • Team Collaboration: A cooperative mindset to work effectively with fellow technicians and support teams.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency repair situations.
  • Driving License: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; must be willing to travel as necessary to meet customer requirements.
