- Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate minutes of meetings and file documents as necessary.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Develop and maintain effective working relationships with personnel across various departments to facilitate proper record maintenance.
- Incident Reporting: Assist in documenting all incidents and accidents, ensuring proper filing in accordance with established protocols.
- Record Retrieval: Retrieve and deliver resident records both manually and electronically as required.
- Chart Management: Collect, assemble, and verify resident charts, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Assessment Scheduling: Assist the MDS Coordinator in scheduling assessments following current guidelines.
- Record Completeness: Ensure incomplete records are returned for correction and assist in developing procedures for proper record completion.
- Information Release: Maintain a record of authorized information released from charts, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Indexing: Index medical records as directed, maintaining various registries as required.
- Report Preparation: Transcribe and type reports for physicians as necessary.
- Telephone Inquiries: Respond to inquiries regarding medical records functions.
- Safety Compliance: Report any unsafe conditions or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor immediately.
- Staff Development: Participate in mandatory training programs and workshops as scheduled.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Typing speed of at least 45 words per minute.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
- Strong communication skills in English.
Work Environment: The role requires moving throughout the facility, interacting with various personnel, and managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. The MDS Assistant must be adaptable and able to handle the demands of the position effectively.
