**Job Summary**

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is seeking a highly skilled Engineer I to join our team in the Dam Safety Program. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of dams across the state.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Conduct thorough engineering inspections and evaluations of existing dams to assess their safety and develop reports and recommendations for owners and engineers.
  • Oversee inspections of dams under construction or modification to ensure compliance with approved plans and engineering practices.
  • Perform routine hydrologic, hydraulic, and structural studies as needed for proposed and existing dams, and prepare reports of recommendations and findings.
  • Review and evaluate engineering reports submitted by dam owners and engineers to ensure compliance with statutes, rules, and engineering standards.
  • Assist in maintaining the Texas Inventory of Dams database files and provide technical assistance and public outreach to dam owners, engineering consultants, and other stakeholders.

**Qualifications**

  • Must possess a Texas Professional Engineer's license.

**Working Conditions**

This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and provide technical assistance to stakeholders.
