Job Description

Job Summary:

The Operations Manager - Windows will be responsible for managing multiple operations that control the flow of materials and the install to and from the location in the most timely, productive, and cost-effective method possible.

This role will report to the General Manager and will be responsible for the overall operations and physical conditions of the location's facilities, equipment, install and service departments.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations management, with experience in the building materials industry. They will be responsible for budgeting and controlling operating costs, planning operations strategies and goals, and resolving problems relating to processes, costs, orders, maintenance, inventory control, equipment/trucks, services, and systems.

The Operations Manager - Windows will also be responsible for supervising employees, including Operations, drivers, service, and install teams. They will be responsible for interviewing, hiring, and developing/training team members, as well as planning, assigning, directing, and delegating work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple operations to control the flow of materials and the install to and from the location
  • Responsible for the overall operations and physical conditions of the location's facilities, equipment, install and service departments
  • Budget and control operating costs
  • Plan operations strategies and goals
  • Resolve problems relating to processes, costs, orders, maintenance, inventory control, equipment/trucks, services, and systems
  • Supervise employees, including Operations, drivers, service, and install teams
  • Interview, hire, and develop/train team members
  • Plan, assign, direct, and delegate work

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university
  • 4 years of directly related experience in the building materials industry with multiple assignments in all phases of the business
  • Knowledge/experience in building materials, procurement, inventory management, and supervision of people
  • Strong customer service experience and good organizational skills

Competencies:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports, trade journals, and legal documents
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
  • Ability to persuade individuals or groups to take actions that would result in obtaining a mutually desired outcome
