Note: Office visits to New York City are required quarterly.

Position Summary:

The Senior Risk Assessment Specialist is responsible for cultivating and maintaining strong, professional relationships with agency partners, while also driving the company's growth and profitability goals. This role demands a high level of technical proficiency, sound judgment, and consistent performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze loss history, insurance valuations, and risk control reports, among other pertinent risk factors.
  • Develop and uphold a comprehensive understanding of the company's underwriting standards, coverage options, enhancements, rating methodologies, and operational workflows.
  • Assess the acceptability of commercial lines packages, auto, workers' compensation, and umbrella policies in accordance with established underwriting criteria.
  • Utilize underwriting data, including inspection reports, claims history, and commercial applications, to make informed underwriting decisions.
  • Establish appropriate premium levels and coverage options for commercial packages and umbrella policies based on filed rates and specific risk attributes.
  • Maintain robust business relationships with assigned agencies, which includes travel and management responsibilities.
  • Achieve or surpass all company service benchmarks for underwriting and processing commercial lines applications, endorsements, renewals, and new business policies.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior underwriters.
  • Engage in special projects and undertake additional responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial multi-line and/or package underwriting is required; experience in workers' compensation and casualty is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft 365 are essential.
  • Completion or progress towards a Professional Designation such as CPCU, CIC, or ARM is preferred.
  • Experience with ImageRight is preferred.
Skills:
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities are essential.
  • Proficient negotiation and analytical skills are necessary.
  • Demonstrated capacity to exercise sound judgment and decision-making in line with company underwriting guidelines and philosophy.
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $78,700 - $165,300. This range is subject to change based on various factors including performance, education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, and business needs. Base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which may also include eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance.
