Americorps is seeking a skilled Community Development Specialist to join their team in Illinois. As a member of this team, you will play a critical role in promoting health and reducing the burden of chronic disease through various programs and initiatives.

Your primary responsibility will be to support the implementation of the State Physical Activity and Nutrition (SPAN) grant, which aims to promote food and nutrition security, physical activity, and social connectedness in Illinois. You will work closely with local health departments, community-based organizations, and the YMCA to advance existing efforts and develop new strategies to address these pressing issues.

To achieve these goals, you will engage in a range of activities, including:

  • Developing and implementing communications plans to raise awareness about the importance of healthy eating and physical activity.
  • Providing technical assistance to local partners to help them develop and implement effective programs and services.
  • Collaborating with other stakeholders to identify opportunities for partnerships and resource sharing.

As a Community Development Specialist with Americorps, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in public health, community development, and program implementation. Estimated salary: $45,000 per year.
