InsideHigherEd is seeking a highly skilled Molecular Diagnostics Technologist to join our team in the Pathology, Molecular Diagnostics Lab. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of clinical laboratory tests, including routine and complex procedures, to ensure accurate and timely results.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a range of clinical laboratory tests, including separation of human blood cells, isolation of DNA/RNA from human tissues, and nucleic acid biochemistry.
- Prepare and determine the suitability of reagents, document and report test results, and maintain and troubleshoot equipment.
- Participate in the training of new employees, students, and physicians in laboratory methodology and maintain effective communication within the department and with other healthcare professionals.
- Work independently, determining appropriate procedures and methods to obtain test results, and exercise initiative and judgment in high-pressure situations.
- Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field.
- One year of experience in a comparable laboratory performing relevant techniques required or equivalent.
- Molecular Biology (MB) ASCP certification preferred but not required.
- Work in a clinical laboratory environment with exposure to toxins and infectious agents, but with established safety and health precautions in place.
- May transport equipment and supplies, and may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with proper training or precautions/lifting aides.
- May work rotating schedules, including day, evening, or night shifts, and may be required to work overtime when authorized/needed to meet business and patient needs.
