Residential Electrical Inspector

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Inspector to join our team at SAFEbuilt. As an Electrical Inspector, you will be responsible for performing daily field inspections of residential and commercial construction projects. You will interact with the public and explain technical information to both technically and non-technically trained individuals. Your role will also involve reviewing residential and commercial plans and engineering calculations for building components to ensure compliance with applicable codes. Additionally, you will provide recommendations regarding interpretations of City, State, Federal, and Construction standards, as well as local ordinances. You will maintain accurate records to document inspections, test results, and additional details pertaining to inspections. You will also maintain computer logs of inspection reports, entering inspection results into permitting software.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technology
- Ability to positively interact with the other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clientele
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good time management, organization, and attention to detail skills
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced atmosphere
- Ability to stay familiar and up to date with different editions of the International Building Codes
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
Education/Experience
- ICC Residential Electrical Inspector certification required
- New Mexico Electrical Inspector certification required
- Additional ICC certifications are a plus
- Experience in municipal code inspections required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record required
