Polk State College is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a part-time substitute teacher. As a substitute instructor, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational experience of our students. About the Position

The substitute faculty member will report directly to the Principal of Lakeland Collegiate High School. Your primary responsibility will be to provide subject matter instruction and academic-related activities designed to promote student success. You will work closely with the Principal to ensure a smooth and effective learning experience for our students.

Essential Functions/Duties
  • Adhere to all school safety laws and requirements, and immediately report any known abnormalities to the administration.
  • Teach courses in accordance with college and departmental policies and procedures, as well as lesson plans provided by the teacher of record or the administration.
  • Prepare and submit timely grade and/or attendance reports and other reports on student performance and/or behavior as required.
  • Manage the classroom in a way that maintains order and an environment conducive to learning, reporting any concerns to administration.
Required Skills
  • Knowledge of High School-level subject areas in which the individual is responsible for instruction.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of effective communication and of effective instruction.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the characteristics and challenges of community college students.
  • Knowledge and understanding of principles of curriculum development.
Required Education

Graduation from a standard high school (or equivalent) is required. An Associate's Degree is preferred.Required Experience

Teaching experience is preferred.
