POSITION SUMMARY

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for delivering nursing and healthcare services to individuals in alignment with the organization's policies and the state's Nurse Practice Act. This role also includes providing training to clients and staff members of Open Arms Care Corporation, as well as conducting pre-employment health screenings.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver training to all staff and clients.
  • Assess emergency situations for clients and determine necessary actions and follow-up procedures.
  • Manage and account for all scheduled and controlled substances in accordance with organizational policies and state regulations.
  • Ensure the security and cleanliness of medication storage areas.
  • Document and report vital signs and clinical observations accurately.
  • Administer treatments and medications as prescribed, assisting physicians as needed.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide guidance to fellow LPNs.
  • Notify the Health Services Director and on-call physician of any medical incidents as per agency policy.
  • Accurately transcribe physician orders.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of drugs and pharmaceuticals.
  • Follow procedures for ordering and receiving medications as outlined by the facility and pharmacy.
  • Document all medical and nursing care provided.
  • Ensure client safety at all times.
  • Support direct care staff in delivering high-quality care to clients.
  • Contribute to the development of Individual Support Plans (ISP) by attending interdisciplinary team meetings and assessment reviews.
  • Complete desensitization programs for dental and medical appointments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
  • Must hold a current and valid Tennessee nursing license.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • This position requires accountability, adaptability to individual needs, teamwork, and a strong sense of responsibility.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds repetitively; tasks may include lifting, repositioning, turning, bending, and squatting.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to physically assist and engage with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to check adaptive equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.
