Job Overview

Position: Volunteer Engagement Manager - Christian Career

Objective: To foster and strengthen connections between Christian Career and volunteers, encouraging local congregations to engage in community service. This role focuses on recruiting, integrating, and empowering volunteers from various churches to lead initiatives that address community needs. It offers an opportunity to serve God and others while utilizing unique talents to create a meaningful impact in the community.

Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Executive Director.

Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with some flexibility for evenings and weekends. A four-day workweek may be considered for suitable candidates.

Salary and Benefits: Compensation ranges from $38,000 to $52,000 based on experience, including paid time off and holiday pay.

Mission Statement: Empowering local churches to transform lives and communities through service in the name of Christ.

Vision Statement: By 2034, we envision a united community of churches in Lake County, working collaboratively to create significant change through the love of God.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention of volunteers from partner churches to fulfill current and future ministry needs.
  2. Maintain strong relationships with volunteers, ensuring they feel valued and understood. Document their interests and community connections to align with ministry goals.
  3. Equip volunteers for their roles by developing essential resources, including job descriptions and handbooks, and providing comprehensive training.
  4. Identify potential leaders within the volunteer base and support their development with appropriate staff guidance.
  5. Organize and co-facilitate monthly volunteer orientations, helping new volunteers discover their gifts and follow up to ensure their integration into the ministry.
  6. Lead initiatives to recognize and appreciate volunteers, collaborating with staff for support.
  7. Enhance understanding of volunteer satisfaction and explore ways to improve overall volunteer management through surveys and feedback mechanisms.
  8. Ensure accurate tracking of volunteer hours and provide training for those responsible for reporting.
  9. Represent Christian Career at church events and other speaking engagements as needed, alongside the Executive Director and staff.
  10. Participate in staff, board, and committee meetings as required.

Qualifications:

  1. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with the Apostles Creed.
  2. Regular attendance at a Christian church.
  3. Demonstrated servant leadership with a commitment to educating and empowering churches for unified service.
  4. Ability to listen, empathize, and connect with others in a non-judgmental manner.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly and encouraging demeanor.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate the mission and needs of the community.
  7. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects effectively.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
  9. Preferred experience in leadership and public speaking.
  10. Preferred minimum of one year in volunteer management.
  11. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
