About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mortgage Loan Officer to join our team at PenFed Credit Union. As a Mortgage Loan Officer, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our members by guiding them through the mortgage process and ensuring a seamless experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a trusted advisor to our members, providing expert guidance on mortgage options and helping them make informed decisions.
  • Explain the mortgage process and set clear expectations with our members, ensuring they understand what to expect throughout the journey.
  • Promptly respond to member inquiries and lead opportunities, providing timely and professional service.
  • Serve as a liaison between our members and internal teams, ensuring that closing dates are met and expectations are exceeded.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with members throughout the processing period, providing regular updates and ensuring their needs are met.
  • Identify and address any issues that may impact the ability to meet closing dates, working collaboratively with internal teams to resolve any challenges.
  • Complete loan applications over the phone, provide electronic content, and encourage the use of e-consent to facilitate a timely closing of the loan.
  • Follow up on pre-approvals to answer questions and provide advice, ensuring that our members are fully informed and satisfied with the process.
  • Work closely with realtors and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth transaction process.
  • Proactively work with processors to obtain credit approval within established timeframes, ensuring that our members receive timely and accurate information.
  • Ensure that all quality measures for the application are met, providing exceptional service and ensuring that our members are satisfied with the experience.
  • Provide sound mortgage advice to our members, helping them understand the advantages and disadvantages of different loan products and pricing.
  • Stay up-to-date on regulatory loan documentation requirements and Agency, Non-agency, VA, and Home Equity lending policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High school degree and relevant experience, with an Associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of residential mortgage lending experience, with a focus on generating business.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
  • Knowledge of Agency, Non-agency, FHA, VA, and Home Equity lending guidelines.
  • Understanding of Federal Regulations governing Real Estate Lending.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
Licenses and Certifications

An active NMLS license is required, with the ability to obtain a license if not already held.
