Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Supervisor to oversee and coordinate the activities of a team of engineers and designers at Powell Industries. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects, allocating resources, providing technical guidance and support, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and evaluating team performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage work schedules and adapt easily to change.
  • Create standards while looking for efficiencies in cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Direct lower-level engineering personnel to appropriate sources of information, products, vendors, etc.
Requirements
  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an Engineering role (design, engineer, or both).
  • Minimum 1-5 years of experience in a leadership role.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
  • EIT preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the following: Drafting/CAD skills, design and circuitry, documentation, creating and proposing drawings, reading and interpreting electrical symbols, characters, and drawings, apply ANSI, ISO requirements for a specific department and how it interfaces, industry codes and standards, power system applications, checking wiring diagrams and completed jobs, ordering materials, interpreting customer job specifications, consulting and troubleshooting on complex jobs, and provide technical assistance with sales/customer, service technicians, and shop employees.
  • Knowledge of multiple product lines such as 5/15kV Switchgear, 38kV Switchgear, Low Voltage MCC, Medium Voltage MCC, Power Control Rooms, Panelboards, Relay Panels, etc.
  • Knowledge of new and previous vintages of Powell equipment.
  • Familiarity with modifications to existing equipment in the field.
  • Innovative to improve existing products based on quality, delivery, and cost.
Working Conditions

This position may require travel out-of-town to attend training and meetings. The typical office environment may experience minor discomfort from extensive use of a computer display and keyboard; travel between buildings on campus and between campuses.

Physical Requirements
  • Maintaining body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
  • Sitting, standing and walking for long periods of time.
  • Typing, punching or applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
