Position Overview

JOB TITLE: Community Advocacy Project Coordinator

STATUS: Full-Time (35 hours per week)

FLSA DESIGNATION: Non-exempt

REPORTS TO: Director of Passage Domestic Violence Services

EDUCATION: Master's in Social Work preferred or Bachelor's in Social Work or related field with 3+ years of direct service experience

EXPERIENCE: Comprehensive clinical knowledge of family dynamics, particularly in family violence, and experience collaborating with community partners.

SALARY RANGE: $22.15/hour

POSITION SUMMARY: The Community Advocacy Project Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the Domestic Violence program by ensuring the effective delivery of advocacy services. This position requires a deep understanding of the mission and services provided by Pinnacle Community Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's in Social Work or related field with 3+ years of direct service experience may be considered.
  • Master's degree in Social Work preferred.
  • Valid NYS Driver License and personal vehicle for work-related travel.
  • Extensive knowledge of family violence dynamics and experience in group facilitation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and web-based databases.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver educational presentations on domestic violence to various community organizations.
  • Provide advocacy and safety planning tailored to the needs of families.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise interns in the Community Advocacy Project.
  • Oversee the roles of Shelter Advocates and Support Group Facilitators.
  • Conduct client assessments and develop service goals for survivors of family violence.
  • Facilitate support groups for adults and children affected by domestic violence.
  • Maintain accurate client records and assist in reporting to funding bodies.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interns
  • Non-residential Group Facilitators

  • Shelter Advocates

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Primarily performed in a shelter/residential setting with frequent local travel.
  • Occasional lifting and moderate stress in a fast-paced environment.
