A comprehensive understanding of firearm safety protocols, as well as local and federal firearm regulations, is essential. The educator will implement training programs, evaluate students' abilities, and offer constructive feedback to encourage safe and effective firearm practices. This role demands a strong dedication to safety, exceptional communication skills, and the capability to foster a positive educational atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting Training Sessions: Facilitate training programs on firearm safety for individuals of various skill levels, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Instructing on Firearm Handling: Teach students the correct handling, operation, and maintenance of firearms, covering essential topics such as loading, unloading, safe storage, shooting techniques, and clearing malfunctions.
- Demonstrating Safety Protocols: Consistently emphasize safety measures, instructing students to treat every firearm as if it is loaded, maintain trigger discipline, and understand target awareness.
- Providing Legal Insights: Inform students about local, state, and federal firearm laws, including ownership, storage, transportation, and usage regulations. Discuss the ethical and legal aspects of firearm use.
- Encouraging a Safety Culture: Promote a culture of safety among students and within the broader shooting community, advocating for responsible firearm ownership and safe practices.
- Evaluating Skills and Offering Feedback: Assess students' shooting abilities and provide constructive guidance to enhance their skills and ensure safe firearm usage.
- Staying Informed: Remain updated on advancements in firearm technology, safety practices, and legislative changes. Participate in professional development to maintain current knowledge.
- Communication and Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of training sessions, including attendance and topics covered. Communicate effectively with students, addressing their inquiries and concerns.
- Managing Range Safety: If applicable, oversee safety during training sessions or shooting events, enforcing safety rules and addressing any unsafe situations promptly.
- Utilizing Software Applications: Be proficient in using training department software, including scheduling and payment platforms.
- Sales Skills: Capable of promoting memberships related to firearm safety and legal protection.
- Must possess NRA, POST, USCCA certifications (minimum requirements)
- Preferred experience of at least 1 year in sales, marketing, firearms instruction, or a related field.
- Ability to effectively identify and execute tasks and processes.
- Experience in consistently meeting deadlines.
- Sales experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated decisiveness and resilience.
- Willingness to work diligently under pressure.
- Proactive and resourceful problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
- Maintain all relevant Firearms Instructor certifications during employment or contract with Concealed Coalition.
- Maintain open communication with the Training Department and other relevant teams.
- Acquire and maintain a Professional Liability Insurance Policy with appropriate limits.
