Job Title: Assistant Professor - Leadership and Administration

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor to join our faculty in the School of Information at San Jose State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the Leadership and Administration cluster, including INFO 204 - Information Professions, and will serve as core course coordinator for these courses.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach INFO 204 - Information Professions and other courses in the Leadership and Administration cluster
  • Serve as core course coordinator for courses in the Leadership and Administration cluster
  • Conduct research in areas such as advocacy and advocacy metrics, decision making, and management of globally distributed teams
  • Participate in shared governance and participate in state, national, and international professional organizations
  • Demonstrate awareness and experience understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Information Science or related field
  • Record of scholarly and professional achievement
  • Evidence of potential for teaching effectiveness
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a socially and economically diverse student population

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 100% online teaching experience
  • Teaching capabilities in areas such as foundations of the information professions, challenges and critical success factors of information service development, and effective mediation between users and resources
