Position Title: Shop Apprentice

Department: Service

Reports To: Service Manager

Position Summary:

The Shop Apprentice is a vital role that requires a technically skilled individual capable of working both independently and collaboratively to acquire the expertise necessary for the repair of various equipment brands and models.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Clean mechanical components and parts.
  2. Disassemble and reassemble equipment components.
  3. Repair small tools as needed.
  4. Assist the rental department with equipment inspections and check-ins.
  5. Remove, assist with rebuilding, and install components from machinery and engines.
  6. Utilize rebuildable guidelines to make informed decisions regarding component reuse.
  7. Load and unload parts, components, and equipment.
  8. Transport items as directed within the facility and to job sites.
  9. Locate and utilize service manuals and technical documentation.
  10. Prepare service reports accurately as required.
  11. Communicate technical issues to supervisors effectively.
  12. Stay updated on advancements in tools, technologies, and systems through training.
  13. Adhere to safe working practices at all times.
  14. Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
  15. Be available for overtime and weekend work as necessary.
  16. Provide basic hand tools for personal use.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

The candidate must possess one of the following:

Two years of hands-on mechanical repair experience with diesel or gasoline engines, or earthmoving or industrial machinery.

Graduation from an accredited technical institution with a focus on diesel engine or earthmoving repair may substitute for experience.

Skills and Abilities:

Proficient in parts ordering systems.

Familiar with service publications.

Ability to maintain personal time records.

Capable of maintaining inspection, quality, and service documentation.

Physical Requirements:

This position is physically demanding and requires frequent talking and hearing. The employee must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the workday. Frequent lifting and/or moving of items over 50 pounds is required. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Job Type: Full Time

Work Schedule:

  • 8-10 hour shifts
  • Monday to Friday with weekend rotation
  • On-call availability required
