**Key Qualifications and Experience**

  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited MRI technologist training program
  • Minimum of one year of experience performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures
  • Current CPR certification
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist registration preferred
  • Licensure and/or certification as required by the State of North Carolina
  • Knowledge of MRI procedures and protocols
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform MRI procedures, including body mechanics and patient movement
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and contraindications for patients and all visitors within the facility

**Responsibilities**

  • Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures, placing additional coils and/or immobilizing patients as required for the exam
  • Assist physicians during the administration of contrast media and practice medical and surgical aseptic procedures as required, monitoring patients for allergic reactions and responding appropriately
  • Determine imaging factors based on the type of scan and patient characteristics
  • Thoroughly explain the process and procedure to patients to alleviate anxiety and facilitate patient cooperation, monitoring patients during a procedure to detect excessive anxiety
  • Conduct examinations with regard to the patient's age, medical condition, or other special requirements
  • Screen patients and any visitors outside of the magnetic field before the exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the exam (e.g., pacemaker, claustrophobia, metallic objects in or on their body)
  • Routinely prepare exams for interpretation by the radiologist, including correct identification and film processing, adequate clinical history, and previous exams for comparison if available
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned by Manager, including schedule changes and travel to office locations as assigned
