Our innovative Tribrid-BioreactorTM technology stands out as the most advanced anaerobic digester designed to handle complex food and beverage waste streams, significantly reducing waste disposal costs while generating substantial renewable energy.

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Director of Project Engineering to lead and expand our project engineering division. This pivotal role will oversee the execution of 5 to 10 industrial wastewater treatment projects annually, each valued between $20-50 million, through comprehensive engineering and construction management. The Director will establish and maintain relationships with external engineering firms, design-build contractors, and construction management teams to enhance project delivery efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Close collaboration with our process engineering team will be essential to develop a robust basis-of-design and define process flows. Additionally, the Director will work alongside the development team, including land acquisition specialists and on-site project managers, as well as the operations team responsible for project commissioning upon completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish, document, and implement engineering standards, equipment specifications, and construction details that align with PurposeEnergy's operational requirements.
  • Oversee quality assurance and quality control of the IFC document package to identify scope gaps and ensure compliance with PurposeEnergy standards.
  • Evaluate existing processes and facility designs to uncover value-engineering opportunities, enhancing safety, efficiency, robustness, constructability, and lifecycle costs.
  • Provide engineering support to construction managers and/or design-build partners throughout the construction phase.
  • Assist the Chief Development Officer and Chief Financial Officer by generating investment decision metrics for projects, including CapEx and OpEx estimates.
  • Work with the procurement team to assess and select equipment and components based on project specifications and timelines.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of project activities, technical data, and design/construction modifications.
  • Occasional travel to project sites for planning and construction coordination may be required.
  • Support, mentor, and inspire your team to achieve ambitious project development objectives.
  • Conduct and lead interim design reviews.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical, chemical, civil, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 10 to 15+ years of experience in project design and engineering, particularly in municipal or industrial wastewater projects.
  • Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, including fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and materials science.
  • Familiarity with renewable gas upgrading equipment design and specifications is advantageous.
  • Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) software and engineering analysis tools.
  • Ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs, block-flow diagrams, construction drawings, and other technical documents relevant to industrial wastewater facility construction.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and adaptability to evolving business needs.
  • Proven experience in making sound engineering decisions that balance operational efficiency, economic considerations, and project timelines.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure is preferred, evaluated against relevant experience.
  • Experience in leading, managing, and motivating engineering teams.
  • Capability to estimate workload and develop project schedules.
  • Familiarity with process control and automation systems.
